Asthmatic Kitty Records will be releasing The Avalanche on July 11th 2006. The album contains 21 tracks (songs, demos, instrumentals, interludes) left over from the Illinoise era. Originally intended to be a double lp, Illinoise eventually turned out as a single disc leaving behind numerous tracks on the proverbial studio floor. After some fine tuning by Stevens and his group of musicians in late 05' early 06' these tracks were compiled and are now set to be released. More Info

One of the great things about Elliott is the vast catalogue of material he has left behind. In addition to six studio albums, rarities and demos, which hopefully will continue to appear as the years go by, fans have a multitude of live shows they can explore. Anyone who wanted to do so could, for the most part, compile a live version of of each of his albums with the luxary of picking and choosing the best performance of a particular song. Rocky Votolato is the best thing i've heard in a long while. His most recent album, Makers, is simply superb. From the first song and single, White Daisy Passing, to the album's namesake closer you will never get bored. His whiskey soaked voice accompanied by angelic guitar work as well as a plethora of other unique instruments make for a fine piece of work. If it's one album I implore you to get, it's Makers (other than all of Elliott Smith's albums which is a given), you surely will not be dissappointed. Check out the Rolling Stone article.

Sorry for the lack of updates....i've been very busy with the Nasdaq 100 tennis tournament down here. I work at the tournament and have been there for the last 6 days...on my feet for 8+ hours straight....literally, so i've been too exhausted at the end of the day to do anything but sleep. Just some random pics from the tournament: That's Roddick and Ginepri in doubles action in what was supposed to be Aggassi's time slot, unfortunately Andre withdrew from the event on the morning of his match due that the fact that he was not 100%

But my time there is over with now and I can get back normal....which means live sundays.
I have two exquisite live tracks from Ian Broudie former lead for the Lightening Seeds. His solo album , Tales Told, is simply beautiful and has received critical acclaim. So check him out, I can almost guarantee you'll like him.

A throwback to a simpler time. So here it is...the first post of the rest of my life...well not really, but this is a new start for me so I welcome you into my world...go ahead...have a seat...kick you feet up...just relax....and prepare to be dazzled.
Ok, now that the formalities are over let's get down to it. There is no other artist I can call on to be part of my first blog other than the one and only Elliott Smith. Within a year of discovering his music I have broadened my musical spectrum to vast amounts...discovering new bands almost everyday. I was even inspired to learn the guitar...which I am proud to say I am fairly good at today.
So it's only fitting to start off with the very first tune of his I heard along with some select live tracks.
